Historians have also linked April Fool’s Day to some festivals such as Hilaria which used to be celebrated in Ancient Rome by the end of March by the cult of Cybele. It consists of citizens dressing in disguises and mocking other citizens, even officers. They were said to be inspired by the Egyptian legend of Osiris, Isis, and Seth.
